I would like the sections "Definition" and "Notes concerning the definition" be as short (simple) and as precise as possible.

Precision is not as easy to judge as the mere length. It can be perhaps achieved if each proposed change in the "Definition" can be accompanied with an example that:
* shows that current definition does not cover something it should cover
* shows that current definition covers something that it shoul not cover.
These examples then can be added to Section "Examples of ambient authority".

I have added a link to the definition of [[ambient authority system]]. It is a different (useful) notion that can be defined in terms of this one. Its text is based on the text that formerly appeared here.
