Eventual reference

Eventual is one of the three primary reference states, along with near and broken. An eventual reference is one on which the eventual send operation can be used, but not the immediate call.

If an eventual reference is resolved, then it is known as a far reference; otherwise it is a promise.

A typical eventual reference is either a promise or to an object which is not in the same vat (or perhaps even thread, process, or computer) as the holder of the reference.
